Our origin story

The 2021 Waukesha Christmas Parade tragedy affected several members of our local congregation. As we searched for resources to help them, we were introduced to a local grief support ministry. Several members of our congregation went on to volunteer there for several years, including Andrew and Katie Green.

For two years, Katie served as the Program Director of that group. They saw firsthand how valuable grief support could be for individuals and families navigating loss. But they also recognized something was missing; a Christ-centered approach that addressed not only the emotional realities of grief, but the spiritual questions that often accompany it. Drawing on their ministry experience and their growing passion for providing support for grieving families, Katie and Andrew began exploring what a faith-based grief support program that addresses the needs of the whole family would look like. One that would combine practical grief education and healthy coping skills with the hope, comfort and promises found in scripture.

That vision became SoulShare.
