About SoulShare Grief Support

Our Mission

SoulShare strives to provide caring, Christ-centered peer support for adults and children experiencing many forms of grief, including but not limited to death, divorce, incarceration, and deployment

How We Help
Soulshare is not therapy, nor does it intend to replace professional services. What it is, is a curriculum driven help for emotional needs common in grief.

Among the most powerful tools available, is being with other people who find themselves in similar circumstance.

From 'cope' to 'hope'

We discuss a variety of topics related to grief, helping participants acknowledge and anticipate the many ways it can affect their lives. We provide practical tools for navigating challenges, including a variety of coping skills and healthy ways to express and process difficult emotions. We know that grief can't be forced or suppressed. At SoulShare, we don't ask you to hurry through your grief; instead, we bear your burdens beside you.

Food for thought

Two elements are key to the success of SoulShare:

Each week, we begin with a shared meal, which provides an atmosphere of friendship that encourages the sharing of thoughts and emotions.

A priority of the SoulShare program is confidentiality.  Vulnerability to open up in groups only comes when we are confident that what we say stays in the room. This is equally important for staff and volunteers as it is for other participants.

What is the structure of the program?

SoulShare follows the school year. There are 22 weeks in each 'semester': 10 normal sessions followed by a group/family activity to recognize your progress.

Do I have to start at the beginning of a session?

You are welcome to join as soon as you feel comfortable. Grief is not a formula, and it follows no set schedule.

What happens when I finish?

You can come back as often as you like. Grief is an unpredictable journey. Some people find that their grief feels more difficult a year or two after a loss than it did immediately afterward. There is no set timeline for grief, and you are always welcome at SoulShare

Can I come if I don't have children?

Grief is not isolated to families. Soulshare is here to help grieving individuals in any circumstance of life.

What if I'm not religious?

You do not have to belong to any faith to receive the benefits of SoulShare. There will be no expectation of religious commitment, and none of the curriculum is directed towards producing that result. All Bible themes discussed directly relate to a grief topic.

If you have any other questions, see the contact information below.

What does it cost?

The program is free to participants. We are a non-profit organization and exclusively rely on donations and grants to fund meals, crafts, and administrative costs.
